Has anyone ever been to the Bull fighting in Jinju. I was thinking of taking a look this weekend. I've read on some sites that it happens every saturday and on some sites that it's every other saturday. Does anyone know any details, and probably most importantly where it is held?

thanks in advance

uhh..maybe you already know this and I could be wrong but I think traditional Korean "bull fighting" is actually just that. Two bulls beat the living snot out of each other to the death. I'm actually surprised it still goes on but then again we have cock fighting, dog fighting and even horse fighting in many other countries.

It isn't some matador teasing a bull with a red cape which results in the bull being stabbed multiple times with spears.

Seen it once, its more like the bulls lock horns, then spend 10 minutes in a kind of horn lock, waiting until the other bull is exhausted (while an annoying Korean commentator shouts out something like TARATA every 10 seconds), after a while one will give up and run away. Much MUCH more animal friendly than Spanish bull fighting, its what they sometimes do in the wild except they are being made to do it here.

No way they beat each other to death!

They show it on TV sometimes. Its a struggle between 2 bulls and when one turns tail its over.

Just look at those bulls, they are well groomed and cared for, some in their prime. No way could I see them being abused.

The ones on tv looked too expensive to be treated badly unless the betting is very high.

The ones I saw on tele would be getting sold for up to $4000 or more in my country and they don't get that way over night. Plus stud fees would be worth more than a single fight would be worth, plus thats probably why they do it.

A traditional way to prove that you have the best breeding bull.

That's what I thought before I actually saw one. I was in Chengdu for about 10 fights. 6 or 7 of the matches, one bull was too afraid to make contact and the match ends right there. The remaining involved the bulls locking horns and took 30 plus minutes until one of them tires out and quits. It's pretty tame, and quite entertaining. During that time I was wondering if they eat the loser or something. What mountain rams, in nature, do to each other is more vicious.
