Hello all. I'll be taking my first trip to Busan this weekend for Buddha's birthday and I'm looking for some suggestions on what to do. I'll be staying in Haeundae Beach with my girlfriend from Thursday through Sunday.
So far the Jagalchi Fish Market and the Can Market have been recommended to me because they are supposed to be close to one another.
I also really want to check out the Seokbulsa Buddhist Temple which is located off of the Geumjeong Mountain hike. Has anyone made this hike before? Should I save my energy for Seokbulsa by taking the bus or cable car up to the top of Geumjong? I can't find an exact distance/timeline for completing the hike and don't want to get in too deep.
I'm also taking into consideration that this is a national holiday weekend (and a Buddhist holiday) so most of your typical tourists hot spots and temples will be too crowded for my liking. I'll have more opportunities to visit Busan so I don't feel like I have to do everything this time.

Do the Kumgang cable car for a beautiful view of the city.
Also, the Taejandae (sp?) Cliffs are gorgeous. |

You can find that cabe car a few blocks up the hill from the Myeongnyung-dong subway stop. Be sure to cross the skybridge at the station.
I would also recommend Gwangalli beach at night for a fantastic view of the bridge.
If you are feeling adventurous, you could set up a scuba dive with the sharks at the aquarium for cheap or take a dive out at the Five Brothers if you are already certified.
While in Haeundae, go to SFunZ, then walk down from there towards the beach until you find a Beauty Zone on a T intersection. In an alley across the street from there you'll find a tiny place called Taco Senora, the best Mexican food in Korea that I've found, and better than Taco Bell back home(forget you, Taco Bell holdouts, we already got way better down south).
Finally, Beomeosa Temple is really nice to visit, and from there you can hike up to the old hill fortress.
Bars to hit at night:
700Beer at Gwangalli (for their micro)
Eva's and Kino Eye in Kyungsung University district
Vinyl Underground in Kyungsung (to dance)
Fuzzy Navel in haeundae
Rock and Roll bar in Seomeon (to met local Waeguk who will help you better than we can)
Avoid Thusday party and WA bar, they water their drinks down worst than other bars in Busan. |
