I was wondering if there are any record collectors/enthusiasts on this board who could help direct me to the right spots.
I been working in a record shop in philadelphia for the past 6 years and am heading to suwon in june. Obviously I won't be able to bring my hi-fi or my collection with me. I listen to a pretty wide range of music, leaning always to the weirder, more outsider side of things. Any recommendations on record shops and places to find decent record players? Will I be able to pick up Samulim, Shin Jung Hyun and Pearl Sisters jams so cheap?
Help me out. |

Depends on your idea of "so cheap". I got the guy at Purple Record in Hongdae to help me search online for Shin Joong Hyun's Golden Grapes record. He found one for a measly W600,000. That's pretty cheap compared to the us$3,000 price tag quoted by Egon, record collector, DJ and general manager of Stones Throw records
As for hi-fi and decent record players, check the I-Park Mall at Yongsan, 2nd or third floor I believe, in the section with all the musical instruments. Also, for really high end stuff, take a look at ET-Land near Yongsan, around the 2nd and 3rd floors in the middle or far end of the building. It's been a while since I've been, so I don't remember exactly. |

There are also a number of second-hand record stores in the underground shopping arcade leading to the Shinsegae department store in Myeongdong. |
