So, here's what I have (or will have in the near future):

1. Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Production
2. 100-hour TEFL certificate
3. Master's of Education in Secondary Education (English)
4. State teaching certification
5. Two years experience at public middle school in Seoul

What are the top jobs for which I'm eligible? Universities, international schools, foreign language high schools? Is there anything I can/should add to this list to be considered for the top spots?

I know better than to get into the CELTA debate on these forums, but I've considered picking up one of those, as well.

Thoughts?

Do you want applause? Wink

You seem well qualified, CELTA won't hurt.
Good luck with getting a job - should be fairly easy^^*

Thanks.

The question, though, is will I qualify for the top positions (international schools, universities, foreign language schools)?

Are my qualifications sufficient for these types of positions?

Generally they want a master's. You have one and, it's in education - I say why not?

+1. They're hiring too, from what I hear.

Why don't you decide what job you want to do first? Then find out what qualifications they require.

Don't worry about your quals - they're above and beyond what is required in K. However, "How handsome are you?" "Are you fat". "Are you white?' "Have you photoshopped your ID photo?" "How old are you?" "Are you smiling in your ID photo?" "Can you wear a pink shirt?" " What country are you from?" "How's your accent?" "Can you pretend to be an American?"

These are the biggies in TEFL - especially in K.

Good luck.

Unless your masters included a 6 month student teaching practicum, I don't think that gets you a teaching license. Even though you have a masters in education, many international schools want to see your actual teacher's license. It might be worth it to spend the little time and paperwork, to get your teachers license in your own country.

If you are in Korea, during the time Unis are looking then you have a good shot of getting a job there. You won't make as much as you could doing private academies. You also might want to look into teaching test prep. If you know your stuff, those jobs pay very well.

I would say that you have adequate qualifications and above what some of the previous losers have posted. Those that say all you need to be is white, are morons.

Your qualifications are above and beyond what is required in low bottom rung positions, but they are not strong enough for the top positions.

Also make sure that your 2 years experience has a good reference.

Good luck on your job hunt.
