Hi all, just wanting some advice on applying to private schools through recruiters. I've been looking for a position for about a month now and all the available positions seem to be for May/ very early June starts. This is a little to early for me as it would make life before leaving extremely hectic and stressful but I'm worried that if I don't go for one of these positions, then there will be nothing else available. Is this how recruiters work- by mid May will a load of late June positions appear?
The other worry is that I am applying as part of a couple who want to work in Busan (as we have friends there) so competition is particularly fierce and I don't want to turn down something if that's our only hope of a job (particularly as it seems to get more competitive by the day!). We are being as flexible as we can and do not need to work or live together but the only positions that seem to fit the bill start in May- I know advice would usually be 'wait until you find the position that is right for you' but is that still the case in such a fast moving job market?
Thanks guys! |

There will always be jobs. Never rush into anything here, it's how you get burned. Take your time, be selective and ask your friends to hook you up with a job. |

With a name with Salmon in it, maybe you could try finding a job at the fish market. That place is pretty good, got some delicious fish to eat from there before now. |

If you're a North American female then you will be fine. Lots of jobs will be available every month! There are fewer couple jobs for sure. A few male friends have been waiting a few months to get hired in Busan but still no luck. They have teaching experience in Busan and a good reference from their previous school so I can't understand why it's been so hard. One was in Busan for a couple of months but still couldn't get hired and is now back home waiting. But other guys I know have gotten jobs so it's hard to say for sure. If you're a guy, it's tough pickings right now. All I can suggest is that you befriend a recruiter or someone that is hiring so they can push you in! That might make a big difference as I've heard that some schools hire whomever the recruiter recommends. |

If you're a young blonde woman, you'll get hired very quickly. |
