Yes foreigners can be sued for such things. My friend (also a foreigner) was sued. Not for the above reason, but for posting on this ESL cafe about how bad his past school was. Fortunately he is married to a Korean woman who has some "connections" including a member of the Korea judicial system. The lawsuit ended up being quietly dropped.
Most bosses don't bother going through with a lawsuit, because of the time and money spent. Much cheaper just to hire another foreigner and continue on with business. But there are a few bosses who will go to extreme lengths to punish ex-employees. Just something to consider. |
