I teach a weekly teachers class at my elementary ps, and they are adamant that they want to learn a "storybook" including "key phrases," but can't give me anything more specific than that. It just seems unbelievably awkward. I have a hard time imagining myself having them repeat "One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish!" or asking, "What did the hungry caterpillar eat next?" I used to teach an adult literacy class back home and they would completely stonewall if you tried to use any kind of children's literature.

Has anyone received a similar request and/or have a better idea than I do how to go about this?
