So I dropped my laptop, now when it opens it will freeze (the mouse icon won't click on anything on the home page). It's about 1 year old old , a dell inspiron.

I suppose I could bring it to the it the IT lady in school but there some, how shall we say dubious websites on there and I don't really want her snooping around!

I could try the dell service centre in Gangnam.Would a lot of illegally downloaded materials / movies(not porn) be an issue here?

Alternatively I could try Yongsan techno mart. I have never been there but I assume there would be some Korean computer whizz types there who could help me out?

Some of these questions are probably really stupid but I'm a bit of a technophobe and I just want to cover all my bases.

Does this problem sound really serious? Maybe even a friend who is good with computers could help me out? Has anyone ever got a computer fixed in Korea?

Thanks for any replies!

Regarding the Dell Service centre - it'd not likely be a problem, since most people download illegal things and send in omputers without removing them. There's always the chance though - particularly if you get someone that dislikes foreigners or something.

For the Yongsan Techno Mart, it'd likely be safer. It's a place that openly sells fake DVDs and chipped Wii's after all. As long as it's on the level of downloaded games/movies, rather than the level of underage girls pictures, etc.

If you do have a friend who can help, get them to check it out first. It might be an easy fix or not require fixing or might require opening and replacing parts or even might need a new computer.

It might be worth opening the little panel underneath and checking if the RAM are in their slots properly.

If they check out and the problem persists, then the Dell A/S centre would be your next stop. And, no, they couldn't care less what's on your hard drive.

Pick the computer service center that is most convenient to you.

Your movies are a non-issue.

Sounds like a hardware issue so your computer friend probably can't help you unless he is a technician kind of guy who is comfortable opening a laptop up (I know I have no issues with a tower but I usually have bad luck when opening up a laptop and will usually defer it to someone else. (my fingers are too big when I try to squeeze everything back into the case)).
