Hi,

I've just spoken to my employer and told her that my ARC expires on Tues October 12th, so I need to actually leave Korea on that day. This means that my last working day would be October 11th....but she says we have to work on the 12th and leave on the 13th. I told her we'll get fined if we leave a day after our visa expires. I'm worried she is not going to budge on this because we'll only have worked 364 days on the 11th.

Woe is me. Do you think a lightning bolt will come down and she'll cave in????

If you take your ARC, contract showing the ending date of work and a plane ticket out of here, you can get your visa extended by that extra day. I've heard it so many times on here, but never had to do it myself. When in doubt, you could call Immi at 1345 and hope for a good answer from them.

I have done this.

Pop into immi a week before your ARC expires.
Show your ticket out, ARC and passport.

They will extend you until the date of the ticket. It is free.

If you do not get the extension you will be in an overstay position and subject to delays and/or fines when you try to leave and will get a black-mark in your immigration file.

.

I preferred going to the immigration office but if you're somewhere remote/too busy, you also have the option of doing it online and then printing out the certificate.

I see my ARC lacks 3 days so I'll be getting an extension too. This is probably one reason why immigration recently began issuing 13 month E-2 visas.
