| What are my options for wireless Internet and phone for 2 weeks while I'm in Korea? nespot? pre-paid phone? I'd like to have them setup and ready to go from the US. Thank you. |

| I'm thinking that trying to get them set-up before you get here is a bit unrealistic...but I could be way off base. One option I would suggest for a cell is to rent them from the airport. There are several rental booths at Incheon international. I have no idea of the cost or available options, but maybe google or search the Incheon site for info. |

Schlotzy, Thank you.
Does $3/day for the phone and 47 cents/minutes sound about right? Will the airport place tack on any other surprise fees?
If you've used nespot, is this hot-spot only or a celluar service? This is what it says on their site: "Get wireless Internet access at thousands of Hot Spot locations - hotels, convention centers, cafes, and many more." They also say that I need to install a LAN card. Do I have to buy a special LAN card for my laptop? I'm a bit confused as they mention both hot-spot serive and LAN card requirement.
The fee is 3k/hr and 13.2k/day. If I use it for more than 3 hours, am I automatically billed for the day, or do I need pay for the 3 hrs of use (9k), then pay another 13.2k?
I am assuming that service will be ok in Seoul, but how about in Andong (Police Station, south of the river), where I'll be half of the time in Korea? In Busan and Daegu?
Thanks a bunch! |

Check this out for more info about cell rental service:
http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/RE/RE_EN_1_2_4_1.jsp
There are rental booths for 3 or 4 major korean carriers all over the airport. they're open from like 6 am-10 pm or something like that. the people should speak English. If you can't find one, head to the information desk. The people there will speak english for sure
As for internet, don't worry about that too much. it's pretty much everywhere here. Unless you're hell bent on having internet on your cell phone/itouch/handheld device, you can find wireless hotspots at any Starbucks and tons of places around cities.
I think your best option though is to head to a PB bang (internet cafe). They have amazing computers with huge screens and tons of RAM that you pay to use hourly. It's really cheap...like around $1.50 per hour and they're EVERYWHERE!!! Inside you can purchase snacks and drinks and many have smoking/nonsmoking sections. |
