I have no idea how to do this but I'm curious about anyone who can. From what I understand you can build one cheaper than buying it.
desktop or laptop
Thanks |

I doubt that you'll be building a laptop, but a desktop isn't hard to do. Post in the tech forum. |

This will probably get moved to the Tech Forum........when it does, a few of us will pitch in. |

I didn't know if I should put it here or the tech forum. I'm pretty scared of that forum. |

It is not easy if you never done it before but there are tons of info online. I manage to do it in 2007 in Kentucky with purchases from Newegg. I'd be a little hesitant in Korea due to unfamiliar products/regulations. - My only mistake was that I messed up placing the fan on the processor chip. I was lucky enough to fix it before the heat damaged it though.
However, once you do it it feels like you just gave birth or something, quite an experience. I'd love to help out but I'm sure there are more pros in here. |

There are Korean sites similar to Newegg. They have all the same American parts you are used to. (a bit more pricey though) I built an i7 system here in Korea for Christmas.
I didn't want to have to deal with setting up Korean accounts or dealing with deliveries, so I went to a local hole in the wall computer store and had them order all the parts for me there. I payed them 20,000w and a round of coffees for their troubles.
OP, once we find out your expectations for the computer, and budget, someone can make you a nice parts list. |

Three years ago it would have been cheaper to build as opposed to buy, but now computers have dropped significantly in price. Unless you're an extreme gamer, I see no reason why you would want to do this now. Desktop prices especially are crazy cheap as are netbooks and smaller laptops. I've got a great production laptop for sale at the moment too, if you're interested. 650,000 KRW Dell XPS M1530.

So has the cost of parts...it's still cheaper to build a machine--especially if you pirate all of the software. |
