I have come to the inescapable conclusion that I must go to Kerala this coming summer. For those of you who do not know, Kerala is the southwestern province of India. At any rate, I was curious if any of you have been there and if so, how was your experience there, what did you do, etc.?
Also, does anyone know where any buildings can be found that are associated with the Kerala School of Astronomy and Mathematics? Unfortunately, except for historical information about its accomplishments and its individual astronomers/mathematicians, I cannot seem to find out any information with regards to the whereabouts of its historical location. |

I was there in 2004. Back then food and accomodation was $2-$5 a meal and $10 a night at a decent hotel. Tropical and beautiful. On December 25th, 2004 I was sweating buckets at church on that hot night. The women are dark and colourful with flowers in their hair. Less religious unrest and the people usually friendlier than in the North part india.
Astronomy? Rajastan has a lot of old astronomical buildings. |
