So I'm making all my own lessons at my middle school. I might go out and get a book later, but for now I have to come up with 4 lesson plans per week. I teach each class once per week, and there are 2 levels plus an after school class that meets twice a week. But the main concern is the second and third grade level. I'm in a rural part of town, and the students' overall English level is a bit lower than it should be.
I spent about 3 weeks focusing on teaching the kids to describe people, starting with physical appearance, then moving on to personality, likes and dislikes.
Then I moved on to describing neighborhoods, talking about different buildings and transitioning into practicing giving directions.
I need some ideas for new topics. I was thinking about doing lessons on the weather (tying in various seasonal activities plus more practice with likes and dislikes), shopping (a good transition from my neighborhood lesson) and maybe one where they have to talk about a celebrity they really like.
Anyone have ideas? |

| I'm going to give a lesson about memory to my after school class on Monday. I'm going to teach them that method of remembering huge lists of words/items. I think it's called the link and peg method, or some such. I haven't written it yet, so if anyone has some ideas, that would be great. |

Yes, how about "Environment" ?? You can focus on problems and solutions, time, what things are made of (wood, metals, plastic, etc.).
I have a lesson you can pretty much use! Has a few components to it. Basic, but good stuff. It's on the environment. Go check it out at the link below:
