I wanna buy one and I'm curious about all the region coding stuff.
Will a Korean wii play anygame or just Korean language games?
Where is the best palce to buy one in Daegu?
Where can they be serviced in Korea?
Can I buy a US wii anywhere in Korea?
Where can I buy US games in Korea?
Thanks for any help. I just play the games don't know much about the technical side. |

In Daegu, go to Migliore to buy a WII and the cheapest games in the country. |

There isn't one. There hasn't been one for 2 years.
He's talking about the Novotel. Even so, he's not speaking of the Novotel itself, but the area behind it, "Gyo Dong", which is lined with tech shops. I've not seen consoles there cheaper than Costco, Emart or Homeplus.
To answer your other questions:
1. Korean Wiis only play Korean games.
2. Costco, Emart and Homeplus also have them.
3. Emart / Homeplus / Costco
4. You can get the Wii modded with a chip to allow for US games. This can be done in Yongsan Seoul.
5. Probably nowhere, except download. |

Thanks
I've been to E-mart and it's 220,000. I can get the same thing in Banwoldang for 190,000. It's just the basic system no game and one remote. I think I'll head to Costco. How much is the mod? |

There are two types of mods you can do to your Wii, soft and hard.
Soft mod: changes your system to customware and no changes to the actual system (you can update and it goes back to the original state)
Hard mod: they solder a chip in your system so you are able to read discs from other countries.
You might look into soft modding and installing a usbloader.
Advantages:
1) No physical change to your system.
2) Can download all the games you want from the internet (from any country/region)
3) You just need a portable harddrive (no discs required, so saves space)
They usually charge between 40,000-60,000 on mods in Yongsan. |

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can softmod new firmware versions of the Korean Wii. |

I wanna play Madden and NBA LIVE for me my wife and I will play the sports games etc... together. Will the menu and stuff be in English or still Korean after the mod? Is there no where in Daegu that does this? We don't go to Seoul that often. |

I wouldn't really bother getting a wii if your interest is NFL or NBA games. Not really the system's strong point. |

It's more for my wife and I to play around with. Madden and NBA LIVE is just a plus for me. I would never do more than that on a PS3 or 360. |

anyway to answer your question, in my case the menus are still in korean after the mod. however it is not hard to figure out how to make your "mii" and other stuff like that. and if you download or used burned copies of american games, those will be in english.
just learn the hangul for "update" on the wii menues and never, ever click on that and you'll be fine.
i don't know if mine is a hard or soft mod - i didnt ask. i'd guess it's soft as that is probably easier and more modern nowadays. |

Yeah every guide I ever saw said it works on all systems except Korean. Fortunately for me, I got a second hand English Wii and softmodded it with the CoverFLoader for USB play. |
