OK, I am going to buy an alarm clock. I've been using my cellphone as an alarm clock, but the problem with that, is that people can text or call me just as I am trying to fall asleep!

Which totally messes up my NEEDED 8-9 hours of sleep. I'm sorry, but I cannot function at 100% without that amount of sleep... maybe I'm getting older ..only 28.. but I need it.

However, I hate being woken up by those horrible beepy sounds that an alarm clock makes, or the randomness/Korean voices of the radio. I really need a soothing, happy, wake-up, because it affects my whole day. I'm a very sensitive person in the morning. So, I was wondering:

Does anyone know if there exists such a thing as an MP3-player / alarm clock combo? Looking for a good recommendation!

No more annoying people, emotional girls, or even friends calling/texting me at 12 midnight thank you very much!

** PS: isn't there an unwritten code that you don't text or call someone after 11pm (on weekdays) anyways? Haven't they watched "Curb your enthusiasm?" yet?

Do you have an ipod touch? There are a couple of good alarm clock apps. The one I use has an old school green and black digital face. You can set it to wake you to what ever music you want. I think it cost 99c.

Obviously, if you don't already have an ipod, it will be slightly more expensive than that.

Those Ipod touches look better every day. Currently have a nano, but the alarm on it isn't that great. You have to set it every day, no 'regular' option for some reason. So if I forget one day, I'll miss work! Yikes..

So about those Ipod Touches. I think they're looking prettier everyday.

They're great. I would get a 2nd hand one, if you can get a good deal, 'cos a new one will be coming out soon. Likely it will have a camera, and maybe some other knock out feature.

There are plenty of software MP3 alarm clocks out there. As long as you don't mind leaving your computer on all night..

Why not set your phone on vibrating or silent mode but set your alarm on override ring mode and just keep it far enough to hear the alarm but not the vibration? Rolling Eyes

your phone should have "airplane mode" or whatever. this blocks all incoming outgoing calls but all other functions work.

Creative makes mp3 players with a built-in speaker and alarm function. They're cheap and durable. I don't usuaully shill products but I've been nothing but impressed with mine....
