|
|
I want to leave my hogwan. I have been there 3 months- and I've had enough. I plan on giving one months notice. My question is- should I also give immigration a copy of my resignation? If my boss refuses to give me a LOR- would this letter help at all?-proving that I did give proper notice and all?
I would like to do this in such a way that would allow me to work somewhere else in Korea................
Any advice would be welcome. |

ok, i looked this up on the web and am going to the labour board next saturday to make sure that what i read was correct, but essentially as long as you give the notice stipulated in your contract you legally can leave your place of work. bring the release letters to you school and if they refuse to sign them you still give them a copy and tell the labour board they refused to sign.
but, i've not checked this out in person. so maybe someone with more experience will know. otherwise i'll let you know after i talk to the labour board. |

You must give a minimum 30 days notice and if the school refuses to give you an LOR, it isn't that big a problem. When you apply for a new position, explain that your previous director refused to give you an LOR. Remember to give your necessary 30 days notice. |

What stops the previous employer from lying to the new employer.
If he is reluctant to give a release letter then he is more than likely to lie and cheat just to save face and you know a Korean will take a Koreans word over a foreigner anyday of the week when it comes to the hagwon business. |

you will be required to payback all funds that have been spent on you to get you there.... its a big chunk of change.... and they will want every dime... if its under six months. |

sadsac: do you know for sure that you have to give 30 days notice? so for example if i give them 30 days notice exactly 30 days before month 6 i should be in the clear for my plane ticket, right?
does anyone know if there are people at the labour board who speak english? |
