Hi there,
I am currently teaching in Taiwan and was wondering if there are any Australians, preferably from Victoria are in Seoul?
I would like to apply for a Public School position in 2011....
my question is this...
How long do the Australian Criminal Record Checks last, I've read on the net that they are only valid for six months from the time you apply for them and get them, is this correct? |

I got mine in about a week, though this was when I was in Melbourne. So I am not sure about doing it overseas, I guess you have family in Melbourne?, get them to contact the people that need to be contacted, get the documents and send them to you. It might be expensive but it might be the only way other than going home.

they say you should contact the Federal police for it, so go to the Federal police website. |

| You can order and have it delivered to you from overseas. However, five days is hopeful, mine took 20 as there was a backlog. I think the usual time frame is 10 days. |

The CRCs have to be less than 6 months old for visa purposes apparently. You'll have to get it apostilled in Australia/Victoria too.
I'm from W.A. and it took about 3 business days from sending in forms for me to receive it in the mail. Then 24 hours to get it apostilled ($60 in W.A. for the CRC, $60 for the certification! Ridiculous!). |

Hi,
That is correct and it is also correct that one would need to leave a lot of time to post it in.
If you want to do it by post first email the police from your state. You will also need the Apostille office for your state. You will need to send in the completed police check and pay them somehow perhaps using check or money order. The police check is then processed and gotten back. They can send it on directly to the Apostille's office for a fee who can send it to
you, apostilled for a fee.
Yours will be federal check this website.

Good luck. |
