I am doing some traveling on the way home and I am conflicted on where to go! I'm spending 12 days in Thailand and then I'll be flying into Kuala Lumpur. I was thinking of either spending a week in Borneo or a week in Cambodia. Each place has its own appeal and I just don't know where to go!
What would you suggest if you've been to both places? |

Borneo for sure! Unless you're into temples, then Angkor Wat is a must see. But otherwise, I enjoyed Borneo 1000x more. The food, people speaking English, not being harrased for money, range of activities. |

Just curious, are you talking about Indonesian side or Malaysian side of Borneo. Both sound interesting. |

If you go to Borneo, skip Brunei. Mt. Kinabalu is great if you're fit and have a couple days. |

I was thinking of going to Kota Kinabalu. I don't think I can climb the mountain but there are several island excursions and diving to do. Are there places you can go to see wild monkeys in Kinabalu? |

You can do a 3 or 4 day hike of Kinabalu, which shouldn't be that bad. Anyone could do it I think.
AND...for diving. SIPADAN IS THE MOST AMAZING PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN!!!! |

I just looked at pictures online and WOW! I really want to go there! From Kinabalu, is it easy to get there? |

I have traveled to both Cambodia and Borneo. I recommend Borneo, for simliar reasons posted above. If you want to experience some spectacular diving, you'll want to leave the Kota Kinabalu area. Sipadan is where it's at. We took a 6 hour bus from Sandakan. From KK, I believe it's around the same time, if not longer. If you want to dive off Sipadan this coming summer, you'll need to book NOW. The company my friend and I went through had to put us on a wait list for passes to dive Siapadan, and we contacted then 9 weeks in advance! Enjoy! |
