I just had the worst experience of my life in Korea and I want to warn anybody considering working for the company JungAn Education Inc. running afterschool programs in Seoul.
I worked there for 4mnths. They witheld my pay for the first 2. In my health exam a massive tumor was found in my thyroid. In my 4th month the doctors told me the chance of cancer was very high and immediate surgery was needed. The company told me they would assist me financially and be supportive if I stayed in Korea for the surgery. They did neither. To make matters worse they threatened that they would probably fire me because I would be in recovery for more than two wks.
After my surgery I decided I was too ill and needed to return to Canada for proper support and gave them notice that I was too ill to return to work. The company refused to pay me for an entire month that I worked and did not reimburse me for anything.
I know another foreign teacher with similar complaints about this company and would advise anyone considering working for them to think again. |

If you've got the strength and come back to Korea, I'd take this issue directly to the labour board. You worked but they didn't pay you? Definitely worth getting the money out of them (if you're back working here again). If they didn't pay into pension you can get them fined for this too. |
