Just curious how many people who live in Itaewon // Yongsan-gu are military or there in some connection to the US army base?
I'm also wondering what % of the foreign Americans in this area will basically disappear when the US army base is completely re-located? |

| I'm in Yongsan-gu and don't see too many military folks living outside of the Samgakji area and Hannam village. Or maybe it's just me. |

If the base disappears! dont hold your breath!
they have been talking about leaving for the past 15 years and always the dates get pushed back..
Ill tell you who doesn't want the soldiers gone and thats the home owners in yongsan dong the local business owners also..
if the base leaves the owners of the houses will NEVER get the rent prices they are getting now...
if they do leave thought there will still be plenty of businessmen who will stay in itaewon on short business as it always has been... so maybe about 20 or 30% will leave that being the military, DOD and sofa etc...
Im just guessing... |

| i've noticed maybe 10 soldiers where i live (kyunglidan - sp?) and several more military contractors. less than i thought there would be when i moved here. but the places some of them stay in - wow they are pretty nice. not being sarcastic either. i'm glad i'm not an american tax-payer. |

| Most of the military, SOFA status people live in those "luxury villas" up on the top of hills in Itaewon 2dong and the high rises by Yongsan and Ichon station. |
