Hey everyone,

I was recently invited to send my documents to EPIK having passed the interview. I do have one concern, though. On my application form I said that I only wanted to live in a city area. In the interview, the guy said that if I changed it to 'no preference' I would have a better chance of getting into my first preference, Busan. Nervous and keen to get to Korea, I said he could change it.

I'm starting to regret it, and I'm thinking that they might just put me in a remote location because iI've said I have no preference. I would prefer to live in any of my other choices of city than a remote area of the provence I have chosen, if that makes sense. If all else fails, then sure I would consider going to a more remote location, but only as a last resort.

Anyone have any advice?

Well, if the recruiter said that, he probably would have a hard time placing you. He figures he can get his bonus and place you quicker in the countryside. You'll prob end up in the countryside. On the plus side, there is less stress and things are very laid back. Big city schools can be stressful and co-teachers can be a real pain in the a$$. They always demand things from you and you work harder. In the countryside, most of the time no one cares. You are prob a cheap bus ride to a nearby big city for the weekends. Country isn't that bad, as long as you find yourself a hobby to keep yourself busy. Just read through these blogs and you'll read the horror stories. (I think most of these teachers were at one school only in a big city.) But if you're stressed call the recruiter back tell him to change it back.

i think you'll be ok. i ticked the city box too and wasn't asked to change it. remember, it only asks what your preference is . by ticking that box, you're not saying you definitely wouldn't work in a rural area. plus, on the form there's that question about do you understand that you could be placed anywhere in south korea - i'm assuming you ticked yes for that, so that shows in a way that you would be willing to be placed anywhere if it came to it.

Oh I know what you mean... i've been telling my mates that I'm 99 per cent going to Korea. haha. It will be bad news if I don't get a contract but I've sent my documents. I'm sure you will be fine!! Best of luck anyway!
