I have discovered that Korea does have an age limit for teaching. I do not qualify for teaching in the public system because I am too old. I was recently offered a Business English job, but the school then decided I was too old as well.
Are there any schools that do not look at the age as a requirement for teaching there? I have all the qualifications but get stopped at the age issue each time |

How old are you?
IF you are over 62 then it may very well be difficult to impossible to get work in Asia.
Eastern Europe MAY be an option.
If you are under 62 then someone was not honest with you. It will be difficult (they prefer young blood) but not impossible.

Maybe if you wait until July or early August, after the majority of the schools have hired their fall crop of teachers--the young and restless, beautiful and boring, credentialed or not--and they are still two bricks short of a full load, you might look like a pork chop to a hungry dog by then instead of just an old dog.
You can't compete with youth in the first-round spring draft, but it takes all kinds to round out a team. Be patient and send all the schools that rejected you a friendly letter in August, letting them know that you are still interested in working for them if they haven't already found the right fit for that job you had your eye on. |
