Howdy, has anyone ever come across Everclear or some other highproof alcohol here?

A lot of places sell Baccardi 151... Though not nearly as awesome as grain alcohol lol...

Funny story, when I was a kid our apartment had wood tiles on the floor that were coated in a very dark brown stain... My old man spilt a bottle of Everclear on the floor and wouldn't you know it it took the stain right off the damn tiles LOL... Had this big bright white spot on the dark floor

I bought a 750 mL bottle of Bacardi 151 at Costco about 6 months ago for approximately 30,000 won (or maybe 40,000 won?).

Yup, Costco definatly has it... Have also seen it at some Emarts, and a few of the Itaewon foreign food stores (the one on Africa street for sure)

OP, you could make bottle of Vodka to make it stronger. I know a buddy of mine back home did it in this kitchen. His setup was basically a couple pots and a big bowl of ice water, and some hoses.

Quote:
In order to make it stronger, you would have to re-distill it at a temperature between 78.4 degrees celcius (the boiling point of ethanol) and 100 degrees celcius (the boiling point of water). You'll end up with less vodka, but what you have will be very nearly pure ethanol, which can then be diluted with water to get the appropriate proof.

I've heard that absynthe is available in some liquor stores, but haven't found it yet.

Try goryeangju (sp?). It comes in a square green bottle, usually with a red label and a golden dragon on the front. If you need to get drunk quickly and cheaply, this is the way to do it. Mix it up with some coke. It'll be next to the soju in the supermarkets. Convienience stores don't sell it.

Of course, anything so cheap, strong, and effective at cleaning the bog might make you go blind or worse. Easy tiger!

Dude, that stuff is like turpentine. I agree, if you need something to put some hair on you, that'll do it.

A good friend of mine has a still and makes his own alcohol here in Korea. Comes off extremely pure (98%ABV).
From there you can add flavors and water it down to whatever percentage takes your fancy.

Could possibly get him to part with some.

North of the Hansung Uni stop there's a liquor store that has absinthe, it's pretty pricey though...nearly 100,000 won or so I think.

I've seen between 50 and 60% depending on the brand.
