I'll admit I've never really been into that " Another Brick in the Wall".
However I think the stuff with Syd Barrot was awesome. |

On a side note, www.sydbarrett.com is blocked by my school. |

If you like him so much, you could at least spell his name right... |

What they did to Syd Barret shows you how flakey performers can be. Syd Barret did a lot for the band and they just turned around and dumped him. They could have tried to work thru his problems. |

I'm with you Fishead. God, after listening to Waters for a while you want to neck yourself. The saving grace to Floyd is Gilmour's guitar.
I think Syd is one of the first examples of true "urban" music. That dank drab English urban scenery scattered with a few highlights is what he writes when he's at his best.
"In the sad town
cold iron hands
clap the party of clowns outside
rain falls in gray far away
please, please, Baby Lemonade"
For example. |

I don't agree with this. I've seen interviews with the other band members and totally sympathised with what happened. The guy (Syd) was seriously f....cked up on drugs and flaked regularly for several gigs just when they were trying to get big. If you believe what Gilmour and Waters say, they carried him for several months when his mood swings and erratic behaviour were seriously disrupting the band's plans. They would repeatedly pick him up for a gig, not knowing what state he would be and have to adapt to his behaviour for the rest of the evening. Sometimes he would sing a couple of songs and other times he would just sit at the back of the hall and do his own thing. They put up with this behaviour for a long time before one day they were on their way to a gig and they just unanimously decided not to pick Syd up. It's a very sad story but a reminder of what drugs can do to people. They loved the guy but eventually they had to let him go. And they wrote a great song (Shine on You Crazy Diamond) to remember him by. I don't know what else they could have done |
