The Ipad will be available in Korea very shortly, and will sell for 600K won (Approximately $516).

I also heard the 3G models won't be coming here due to the fact they use the newer mini SIM card not availble in Hi Tech Korea.

The K governement hasn't approved them for import yet as well, and even though they lifted the import ban, it's only for personal use. Reselling them for a profit is illegal. That's why they've stopped them coming through customs, is people are reselling them here at a high markup.

Case in point.

I very much doubt that the iPad will be available in Korea shortly. However, if it was to be sold in Korea, this particular model would probably retail for $699 x 1100 won/$ x 1.10 (to include VAT) = 845,790 won (approximately). This seller is asking $900 x 1100 won/$ = 990,000 won (including extras). So, while I would not buy this particular device (I think the markup for 64 GB models is ridiculous, I will buy a 16 GB model), I don't think the seller is especially out of line with the price. Especially since this product is not available in Korea through Apple or authorized Apple resellers (and probably won't be available any time soon). If this was a 16 GB device and the seller was charging the same markup, I would be all over it. Alas...

One of the funny things about the Micro SIM is that it is exactly the same thing as the regular SIM but the plastic housing it sits in is smaller. Apparently, it is possible to "modify" a regular SIM into a Micro SIM with a pair of scissors. I'm not sure what the motivation is for the Micro SIM, then. Perhaps hardware manufacturers just want to dedicate less space to the SIM, or maybe include space for 2 or more SIM cards?

I'm still trying to figure out the people who have their noses so far up Steve's ass that they would spend 500+ bucks for a lackluster product, then do it again a month or so later when they put out another version of the same product. Seriously?

I'm still trying to figure out the people who buy PC products that are quickly outdated with better components and don't have the resale value of Apple products.

Also, I'd hardly call a device that will probably change the way people use computers " lackluster" (and let's face it, everyone in the industry has copied Apple from day one, including Microsoft, the tablet clones are on the way).

Why all the Apple hate? Is it because their products are so easy for mere mortals to use right out of the box, that technophiles feel threatened by the simplicity?

I actually am selling the unit at cost with no profit whatsoever. I just added all the prices of the add-on accessories to it.

I have not plans to use this in Seoul anyway. I am just here in Seoul for a year of fellowship and I will be returning back to Manila by July, thus the possibility of being able to use the 3G service back at home.

Just like with the mp3 player, Apple is NOT the first company to put out a tablet PC. If not for the now-utterly-unrealistic image of "cool" they've cultivated for the past two decades, they'd be just another tech company. The only reason they do better than any others is based on their image. It has NOTHING to do with the product.

No, it's the fact that they can put out an over-priced, under-powered, all-image product and the cool-aid drinkers will buy it, regardless of the quality, just because an Apple logo has been slapped on the back.

Scotticus,

The dude is just trying to sell an Ipad. Must you start a PC vs. Apple debate?

I'm a little late to the party here, but someone's gotta bring the topic back around to the sale at hand before this turns into yet another fierce Mac vs PC debate. -- I 100% agree with Tatertot on this one. The seller's price is fair. When the Ipad comes to Korea, knowing the markups here, I truly truly doubt that the 64GB will be priced below 900,000won. Taking into account the fact that all Apple accessories are horrifyingly overpriced, you would probably save money going for this 64GB deal than waiting for it to be released here if you intend to buy all the stuff the seller is including with it.

I've got a Macbook Pro 17" and a HP HDX 18". The HP ($1400) was significantly less than what I paid for the Macbook ($2500). In addition, it has much higher specs and better features (e.g. Blu ray drive vs. Apple's DVD burner). On paper, the HP blows away the Macbook. In real life, the quality of the Macbook blows away the HP. The HP gets a little over an hour in battery life and is heavy as hell. The Macbook gets over 7 hours and is relatively very light in comparision. The HP uses cheap plastic parts (I've got misshapen trim pieces about to fall off and I swear heat warped the grill over the keyboard). The Macbook feels like a much better, stronger, and more robust product with that aluminum casing. The keyboard in the HP is slippery and hard to push. The Macbook feels fine. The magnetic power adapter on the Macbook has saved my butt on a couple of occassions when I or others trip over the power cord.

I could repeat this analysis with my Macbook Air vs. the Asus and Acer ultraportables I own. Or my Mac Pro vs. my high end home built PC. In the end, you get what you pay for and the price difference between Apple and PC is somewhat diminished.

And for what it's worth, I own a 64gb wifi ipad and it's awesome. In fact, I've placed an order for a second one already.

The OP's price seems quite fair given that Korea generally prices Apple products slightly higher than in the U.S., tax and the accessories he is including. That Belkin clear grip is $50 IIRC and the Apple case is $40 (which is very useful I might add given the easel feature it has).
