Hi all!
I'm leaving my current job in 3 months and I'm gonna start applying to other jobs in search of greener pastures.
I mean the current job isn't too bad, it's just that the pay is quite horrible when compared to other available jobs.
By the way, I'm leaving my current job on good terms as me and my co-teacher have bonded quite well.
Now, I want her to write me a good recommendation letter and she's willing to do it.
The problem is that she's never written a recommendation letter before.
So, she asked be to provide her with a template or a sample recommendation letter.
However, I've never written a recommendation letter myself either.
So, can you kind folks at Dave's provide me with a template or a sample recommendation letter?
By the way, this is for a generic recommendation letter.
Also, should the letter be in English or in Korean?
I know it's asking for alot, but I have no one else to turn to.
Thanks in advance.
Hope you guys have a wonderful week!

Is this a generic recommendation letter or one for a specific job? |

Just follow the simple guidelines. My EPIK recommendation letter states.
First and last name of the applicant.
Writers relationship to the applicant (how long and in what capacity).
Strengths and weaknesses in relation to teaching English (transferable skills from previous work/study that relate to teaching).
A couple of "exaggerations" regarding good personality traits.
Written on 'official letterhead paper'. Signed and dated with contact details of the writer.
It's not rocket science and it doesn't have to be that long. It should be easy. Just write one yourself and then get your co-teacher to type it out/sign it. |

I would say go simple and straightforward.
Being eloquent and long-winded may look good if you're applying for EPIK or something but otherwise the person reading it might not even understand whats written well enough for it to be useful.
I've heard from recruiters and principals alike that potential employers are less concerned about your teaching prowess and more concerned that you're not a loafer, a loner, or someone who inspires a "meh" feeling. |
