I teach middle school grades 1,2 and 3. I desperately need ideas for summer camp. I'll have the kids 3 hours a day for 5 days.

I have access to powerpoint and word but both are in Korean so my ability to use them--well powerpoint--will be limited.

I was thinking of doing a class on american culture in middle/high school. Basically just to compare the kids lives to those back home. Maybe going over clothes worn to school, food eaten, popstars, etc

I don't know what to do for a second class. ..

How about the Olympics? It should be of interest to many of your students this summer.

I taught a 3-hour Saturday class with the directive that it "be about science or math"... I ended up showing episodes of Mythbusters and having them write:
1. What the myth was
2. What they planned to do
3. What the student predicted would happen
4. What the result was

I also prepared a small experiment somewhat related to the episode (friction, aerodynamics, buoyancy, solar power, etc) and had them document the procedure and results. I'll definitely be doing this at least one day of my summer camp.

Also, a Korean teacher suggested that I take a field trip with them... but I'm not sure where that will be or if it will be feasible. There will be a movie day (I found a great Kung Fu Panda worksheet for them to do on waygook.org) and a game day for English board games. I'm hoping this thread will produce some more ideas too ^_^
