Hey,

Visa- Can a single-entry visa be converted to a multiple-entry visa once in Korea? (Or something/method that'll have the same effect)

Travel- Also, any info on the quickest and cheapest (my guess on a compromise is the ferry) route to Shanghai/Ningbo from Busan? I've been looking at the ferries, but they all seem to be located in Incheon. The extra time and cost to Incheon from Busan, then from Busan to X seem silly.

Also, does anyone know of any handy travel sites (air/ferry/train)? The prices I've scoped on the flight comparison websites don't seem that great...

Thanks!

Converting a single entry VISA to a multiple entry - I don't know.

However - you can purchase re-entry permits. That's what everyone I know has done - as well as what everyone on has ever talked about as far as I've heard, or seen on this website. The choices for that are:

Multiple re-entry permit (meaning unlimited re-entries for 1 year). This is available at your local department of immigration. You would just go down with your passport, Alien Registration Card (ARC), ~60,000 KRW fee, and fill out the paperwork. Then wait for some amount of time (<1 hour presumably).

Single re-entry permit. You can buys these over and over if you like. You're not locking yourself in to only 1 re-entry for a year or anything of the sort. These are available from again -local department of immigration. Or - Incheon Airport's immigration office (I have no idea about the airport(s) in Busan). Either way they cost ~30,000 KRW. Incheon Airport does not have the multiple re-entry permits available.

I know nothing about the ferries for that route. As for flights to Shanghai from Busan: I would check the Air China, China Southern, and China Eastern airline websites. Additionally, if you or someone you know can navigate Korean-language sites, generally the best prices come from:

(permit prices may not be exact- as I don't remember exactly).

In general - it pays to book a fair bit further ahead in Korea than the US.

Are you familiar with the China VISA price for Americans? It's around 130,000 KRW...

i was under the impression that american citizens automatically got a multiple entry permit with their E2. if that's not the case, it's really no big deal - fill out a form and pay W35,000 for a stamp in your passport.

Check your visa page first in your passport. does it say "S" or "M" under "Entry"?
