I have a couple questions about going back. I just got home about 10 weeks ago and already am itching to return.
1. If you returned to Korea after your initial first year, were you happy with the decision?
2. How much more would you make (in your opinion or experience) if you completed the TESL Canada program? If you do know of it, it is basically the certificate necessary in Canada to teach ESL. Or if you completed an online TESL/TEFL program?
Thanks for any answers~! |

In regards to you TESL/TEFL:
only going to work in Korea then it doesn't matter which one.
it will get you +100k or a level up in a PS position.
It won't help much at a hakwon.
Going elsewhere, get the in-class, TESL Canada cert.
Returning to Korea:
Some like it for any number of reasons; economic security (no jobs/ money at home), they like East Asia, they have Korean friends/GF, etc.
Some come back, hate it cause it wasn't like the first time and leave soon after.
It's about YOU.
.

who's they?
In my experience most move on once they reach a certain point in thier life. I know a few who have not come back and don't appear to have any reason too.
Those of us who do, do so for reasons most people never raise on this board. |

| If you're really into ESL, I suggest doing a CELTA. That would put you on track for doing a DELTA while living in Korea! |

Just my personal experience:
I am half way through my second year here and to me it's not the same as the first. I moved to a different city for this year so I have a different job and a different group of friends. It's not all bad by any means, but the biggest thing for me is that things aren't new and exciting anymore. I kind of feel like I've been here and done this now, so I'm looking forward to moving on with life back home in a few months. Many people don't feel this way after 2 years though. |

tough topic to answer since it depends so much on you.
I went back for a second year but it was very different. I went back for money though so I just worked my butt off and made almost double what I did the first year. The expereince wore off quickly though and I liked my first year friends more. I liked the girls I knew before more as well.
My best advice is think about what you want to gain. It wont be another great experience so if youre going back for that-bail on it. If you enjoyed your time alone (not dependent on friends) and you want to bank those second year won- do for it. All up to you but dont expect the same thing...first year ups and downs are a one and done thing. |

The first time I was in Korea it felt like a crazy rollercoaster ride. Exciting, challenging, strange and crazy.
The second time. I just felt like I was moving to aacorss town or something. No culture shock at all. also a lot less excitement and fun. But also it was much easier and everything went smoother.
Just give it a try. If it doesn't work out you can just leave later or whatever. |

| Might be time to try Taipei, China, Japan, or go get a real teaching certification and work at international schools worldwide. |

Do you post on Korean Sentry? If not, you might want to register because you seem like their kind of chick. |

| If you like Korea then you should come back. Personally I'm spending a year in Korea then moving on to South America. |

As soon as I get my debts paid off that's my plan too.
In South America it's a beotch to have to worry about debts. Because big money is hard tocome by.
