I've heard certain debit cards don't work in Korea.
I am one of many in the UK who use Nationwide abroad because they have cheap withdrawl fees.
Does anyone know if their debit cards work across Korea? I'm planning to use mine until my Korean bank account is sorted.

Yes, they do work in Korea. Have used my Nationwide Debit Card many times.

Just look for ATM machines that say Global ATM. I normally use KEB.

Well the previous poster has given you a solid answer.

Not being nationwide - I assume you mean it is a VISA card? - If so yeah,KEB's are great - even in mid sized cities in Korea.

BUT - if it is maestro... sp???? you will prob find you are screwed in Korea

VISA = fine - maestro = NO!

Assuming you dont have a VISA/ CC in the UK set one up before you leave for K!

It is a Visa.

I struggled badly with my Maestro card when I was in Tanzania so got a visa after that. There was only one ATM out of about 10 in the nearest main city where it worked!

I have a couple of Mastercards too, but prefer to use the Visa if possible for ease of it all being in one place so I know what I've used!

My dad used his when he visited. There were one or two machines that it didn't work in but mostly he had no problem...
