I'm tried of wearing crappy sneakers but every time I walk into an Adidas shop --

A. The sales person starts breathing down my neck the moment I walk into the shop. Not talking. Just breathing.

B. I look at the prices and they are twice as high as in the states.

I tried Gmarket. The online shoe shops that advertise on Gmarket are more aggressive than the Adidas sales ladies. They load popup after popup whenever I look at a pair of shoes. My computer has frozen more than once just from looking at sneakers online.

this is ridiculous. Now I understand why Waegukin are always wearing crumby sneakers.

Any suggestions?

Shoes and jeans are the one thing I don't skimp on. It sucks that quality brands here are outrageously priced, but I've learned to deal with it by purchasing multi-purpose gear, i.e. shoes and jeans that look good with just about anything.

I managed to buy some legit 501's at Costco last year for the same price I would have paid in the states. Adidas or Pumas, fuggedaboudit.

Case in point:

Yeah, the only Adidas I own I got for free because of a modeling gig my girlfriend did last year for their Originals party.

Vans are pretty cheap here (got a pair for 50,000) but I know they'll fall apart in like 6 months.

I plan on stocking up on jeans and kicks when I head home this summer.

People following ou around in the store is usual. It's just their way of customer service.

I find trainers are a bit cheaper here in Canada than Korea.

haha?

What are you talking about? No matter the quality of the shoes and jeans, no self respecting adult should be seen wearing sneakers and jeans together.

Trainers and Jeans I find are ok. As long it is for things like going food shopping and to the drug store etc.

I pretty much only ever wear trainers (sneakers) and jeans. I am also self respecting (So much so that if I thought wearing a skirt was a good idea, I would), and I should be seen wearing them, because I look cool. Take that.

I've bought several pairs of Adidas sneakers in Korea and didn't find them to be expensive compared to Canada ... the last pair I bought was about 70,000 won. I prefer to buy sneakers at home, but it was an emergency.

Well when you can buy a decent pair for like 56 bucks in canada and the second pair comes half price I'd say they are cheaper in Canada.

OP don't you have any close friends, or family that can send you a pair of shoes? All they have to do is mark them 'used shoes' and you don't have to pay any tax (if price is over the limit for import taxed goods).

Yeah maybe they are cheaper in N. America but it's not like there's a huge difference. I've never gotten a pair of Adidas sneakers for 56 bucks and second pair half price ... I've paid as much as $150 for a pair of sneakers.

The lowest I've ever paid for a pair of sneakers in Canada was $75, and that was in 1995. I find prices for shoes and clothes in Korea are similar to Canada.
