I have read in places that you can do a visa run only when you have had an e2 visa previously.

If I do a summer camp and get my e2 visa that way, could I then have a look around schools and do an visa run before signing a year long contract?

IF you actually get a C4 for the camp then maybe.

If you don't .. then probably not but at least you can accumulate a bunch of flier miles going back and forth. Smile and the money you make at the camp will pay for all the flying.

Has anyone got a definitive answer, or is it just a case of Korean diplomacy and it being a grey answer?

Just to recap, you would get a C4 visa, not E2.

To get a C4, do you have to do an interview like E2 applicants? If so, ask them at that point. If you want to work now, it's better to get the C4, save up, and then pay for the E2 with that money.

You could try calling the Korean Embassy closest to you about this. Personally, I wouldn't do it unless a C4 allowed me to get an E2 easier later on.

I think that is the real question. If I have a C4 for my camp, do I have to do a visa run to get an E2 for a longer term contract? I am going to speak with my consulate about this shortly. Maybe someone will have a definite answer by then.

I'm guessing if you got a letter from your C4 sponsor, then you could have it transferred to an E2, but I'm not sure.
