She came round to 'look' at the gas. And now my gas doesn't work...
Same with another foreign teacher in the same building. Gas was turned off somehow. There's only one button on the boiler which is like auto-water heat or something.
The floor and water heating works fine, but the stove is out...
Any clue? |

Could the lever have been turned off?
Not the one by the stove, but one by the meter.
It's worth checking. |

Either someone didn't pay the bill, or there is a deadly gas problem and she's saving your life.
Or she's insane. |

If the bill wasn't paid, i'm sure they'd shut if off completely, not just the stove.
My guess is the valve was shut off. A lot of people shut off the valve to the stove when it's not in use. She might have just done it because she thought you forgot. Give it a try. |

Oh yeah.. you read it much more diligently than I did. You're completely right.
OP: There is a hose coming out of your burner, there is a tap on it. You've never touched it ever because it wouldn't occur for you to do so; you trust your stove. Middle-aged to Old Koreans never trust their stove. They always turn this tap to the 'off' position. That's what happened. Turn it to the 'on' position and you'll be good to go. I had an old maid once who always did this.. it annoyed me no end. And a landlady who also did it after letting herself in. And gas-checkers. And some girl(s) I had over to cook for me once(ish).
It's possible you live in some kind of modern apartment where your hose is hidden. If that's the case, find it, turn the tap to vertical, and unleash the power of the gas. |

Sometimes a lady may come buy to check for any leaking pipes. If nobody answers the door multiple times in a row (which was my case) she will turn off the level by the gas-meter. Nothing is stopping you from turning it back though, and after giving her a call and promising that I will check for leakage by using soap on the pipes we were all good.
Your case sounds a little different though, since you actually talked to the women. Not sure what is the case, but look for any hidden switches. |

아하! 천제! (or however it's spelt). This is what did it. Woudn't turn at first, then needed pushing in and turning.
Mmmm Gas. Lovely gas.
Thanks y'all. You were right that my gas wasn't paid either, I never received the letter this month but I seemed to be ok so far with respect to that. |

The power of gas becomes us all. We bow our heads in reverence to its ultimate energy. |
