A drunk police officer gunned down a video shop owner in Kimje, North Cholla Province, early Tuesday morning following an apparent quarrel, police said. The officer, identified only by his family name Lee, broke into the video shop around 7 a.m. and shot the owner, identified by his surname Ko, to death. Ko died on the scene after being shot two times in the chest. His wife, identified by her surname Lee, was also shot, but her injury is not life threatening, according to police.

I went to high school with a Lee, but that was his first name, so I guess it must not be him.

Why the heck do the newspapers always do that when reporting about alleged criminals? Or the police only release family names?

You might as well write, "He was identified only as some dude."

As a drunk korean Haraboji once said to my friend in a bar, "Your name is John? My name is Mr. Kim. I thinking finding John in America is like finding Mr. Kim in Korea! Bwahahahahahahahahahahahah!"

Perhaps the police office could come and shoot my video store owner - maybe we had the same problems - trying to charge me 30,000 won as a security deposit on two lousy 1,000 won videos!!

The Korean Herald (yesterday's paper), article mentioned something about a lack of 'hospitality' from the dead man towards the shooter. Wow!! A lack of hospitality? Well...by all means - open fire!
