Recently I saw my student with a box of the Sea Monkey kit. It was in Korean. I think it was called "시 몽키' or some similar Konglish equivalent. Of course, being as young as he was, his parents bought it for him and was unable to tell me where it was from.
I would love to have some Sea Monkeys. And I think it's just awesome they're in Korea. So, does anyone know where I can get them here? I'm in Ilsan if that matters, but could head down to Seoul, and of course shop online. |

Most decent sized stationery shops sell them. |

They are just brine shrimp. A friend of mine used to have an aquarium full of them. He said that you can buy them at pet stores to be used as food for other fish. Maybe you could check at a pet store to see if they have them (probably live ones). |

I don't intend to be a jerk, and genuinely curious here: Why?
They're specks..... Why not get real fish? You can get all kinds of shrimp that don't require a magnifying glass to see.
I'm clearly missing something. |

I had some when I was a kid. They grew quite big. I found them endlessly fascinating. |

Probably for nostalgia's sake.
There are a few toyish things I'd like to get a hold of from my childhood. |

Bigger than specks. Maybe as big as a large crumb. What is the next unit of measurement up up from a spec? |

I believe it is indeed crumb. Well, that's cool I guess. Did they mercilessly tear the flesh from their prey? Causr tiny piranha shrimp would be cool... |

Tiny piranha shrimp would indeed be awesome. Mostly, they just pottered around their tank.
They met their demise when my mum cleaned the tank. I had them for about 6 months. By that stage the water was pretty brown. My mom got sick of it and strained them out of the water then added fresh water. They didn't take too kindly to that, and were dead within 24 hours. Devastating. |

At their biggest they can get up to about 2cm long....generally they all die after they mate, but then if you let the container dry out and re-hydrate it you will have 10 times as many Sea Monkeys as you did the first time around. |

I love Sea Monkeys. I have a package and a tank waiting to be filled after I finish the trip I'll take next month. I have the problem that they seem to get too hot and die off.
I also like Triops. But again I have a problem with the water getting too hot and they die off. |
