So I am leaving soon and of course want to sell my ride, hopefully to another foreigner, not a dealer. So that leads to my quick question, how do I do it? What kind of paperwork do I need to have/do? Can I sell it someone who does not live in my city (Pohang)? What, if any are the taxes to the seller? Do I just go to the DMV to transfer everything?
Also, I think I may have a few tickets. How do I check, I have never gotten anything in the mail.

Best thing I can tell you is to go to your local dong office to get all of that info (good luck if you cant speak Korean)

By the way...what type of car year/model how many kilometers on it, and your asking price? I might be interested.

I bought my car off a mate who was leaving - we both went to the car registration office, bring cash with you - some have atm's there but some don't - they only accept payment in cash.

identification wise we both brought passports, alien reg cards , car documentation and proof of insurance for the new owner, they took decent care of us.

It could have been done without both owner and buyer there but there were a good few forms to fill out and details that you may not want someone unofficial to be party to - your passport etc

The quickest way is to go to the office together, not hassle free but at least your business will be concluded that day.

I can tell you from experience that the process is VERY easy if you both go into the registration office together and just get it all over and done with....but if you don't go in together then it can be a nightmare. If you just both go in together they will walk you through the process...you pay a few small fees (less than 100,000) and settle any outstanding tickets on the car. You don't need to speak Korean, you can grunt and point your way through it.
