If two people wear the same clothes, that's called the 'couple look'.

If both outfits look good= x2 cute.

If both outfits look dumb= x2 retarded.

Don't risk it!

The one thing I'm surprised about is that I still have not seen a couple wearing the "I'm with stupid -->" shirts. That would actually be cool.

Yah I have been calling them shirt twins.

Last night this couple were both wearing white t shirts with Calvin Klein Jeans on them. I was like...cool I guess....

No man should dress like his girlfriend or wife. Once that happens, they might as well just cut off their balls so she can carry them in her handbag.
I went to Bali recently, and saw a lot of Korean couples wearing matching hats, shoes, t-shirts, etc. I just wanted to slap the guys upside the head for their crimes against manhood.

I wouldn't call this a trend, really. Koreans have been doing this for as long as I've been here.

And even Koreans think the look is cheesy or over-cutesy, as much as the concept exists in the culture. They will call these people a dok-saul cup-pull; "goosebumps couple" for the feeling of nausea they give others.

I've seen couples here with custom made T-shirts that have their faces and names emblazoned on them. Now that's a whole new level of cheese.

Thanks for this. It's reassuring to know that there are Koreans out there that find this as sickening as I do. But this is why many Korean women prefer Korean men. It's taking the "we" to a whole 'nother level.

On a trip to Nam, I used Busan Airport. The entire boarding lounge was full of newlyweds in couple attire. The scene ranged from simple t-shirts, to blazer suits, to full on matching safari wear with hats, belts, packs and boots.
I was in the noticeable minority for not dressing ridiculously.

That's true, but the literal meaning is Chicken (neck) skin couple. It also refers to a couple that are overly affectionate in public.

I used to own a t-shirt that read "I love my dog".

I never wore it in public, because I thought it was silly.

Then one day a girl I was dating came over to my place wearing a shirt that read "My other boyfriend is a millionaire".

"Ha ha ha! You're so cute and funny" I said.

So I went to my room, put my dog tee on, and covered it up with a sweater, and we went out.

When we were at the cafe with a group of her friends, they started making jokes about me and her shirt. At that point, I took off my sweater, showing the corny "I love my dog" shirt.

I didn't get any sex that night, but I didn't mind. Wink

Yes. And I don't mean to split hairs over spelling, but you might be better understood if you pronounce it dak-sal cup-pull (닭쌀 커플)...the first two syllables being closer to short "a".

A direct match can look a little cheesy, but outfits that compliment each other and carry a similar look are nice I think.

Both wearing nautical-marine/hip-hop/school uniform/Classic 30s-40s-50s-1800s/track suit/dress to impress/goth/motown/etc.

Have some fun being a couple! Lighten Up! Be Young Again!

I don't think this is a Korean thing, well yes i noticed this creepy fad in korea however when I went back home to the UK I started to notice other couples wearing matching clothing!

I guess it's ok for others to do something but never koreans, i've heard foreigners in korea making fun of koreans who take dried noodles/soup with them when they go traveling as they may "miss home" yet north americans in particular, what do you lot do when you go to other countries? huh? oh yes that's right you hit the first Mcdonalds, Kfc, Pizza hut, burger king and starbucks you come by!

speaking of starbucks, back in january, in fact it was Jan. 1st. I was sitting by the window in lotteria around Jongno and 3 north americans(notice i'm not saying americans or canucks) 2 women and 1 man, they stepped in and I heard one of the women say "oh god this is too Americanized!", then they walked down the straight, now 10 minutes later or so I left lotteria and walked down the road, and as I was walking past a Starbucks, Guess who came out of there with their coffees or whatever they were drinking? Yep, the 3 north americans!

rant over..
