|

Hey guys,
I noticed a lot of tailors in Itaewon. I got quoted anywhere from 300,000 to 400,000w for a custom suit with "the best" fabric. isnt this cheap?
i dont want to spend a fortune, but, at the same time, i dont want something that will come apart after a week...
Should I go to apgujeong? Does recommend a tailor they used?
Any help is appreciated!
ps. get out enjoy the good weather! |

You can get a decent suit in the range you're talking, but it won't be "the best" fabric. Maybe the best that tailor carries. There's a wide range available in itaewon... I've had 200 dollar suits made, and I've spent a mil on Italian silk numbers, and you can definitely go up from there. Decide what you want, go find it, and don't get roped into anything you don't want by the salesmen. |

A place to get a custom made suit would be Hong Kong, Singapore, Milan or London. |

I had a couple suits made in Itaewon two years ago. One was at Hahn's (cost 450K) and one at Savile Row (cost 375K). Both are decent for the price - the Hahn's suit has better fabric and construction but the Savile Row fit better, especially around the shoulders. Neither are American business style so I didn't wear them much when I went back to the States. |

If you ever plan a trip to China or Thailand, then wait and get your suit made there. I had a couple suits made in China. Two regular suits, and one traditional Chinese suit made of silk. They were really nice. Looked good, nice fit, lasted for years and hardly cost anything. I don't remember now how much I paid for them, but it was well under a hundred USD each. You can also get hand made leather shoes and boots there. I got a pair of hiking boots and and cowboy boots. Real leather, hand made after measuring my feet and less than 50 USD each. The hiking boots had pre-made rubber soles but the cowboy boots had leather soles.
Some of my friends have had some nice suits made in Thailand for really cheap as well. If I remember correctly, a friend once said that in Vietnam they make good suits for low cost as well.
China is very close to Korea. It's cheap to fly there, cheap to travel there. Koreans go there all the time. If you're thinking of going there and you really want a good suit without paying through the nose for it, think about getting one while you're there. |
