So I'm sure some of you already know I'm headed to the Phillipines pretty soon. I've decided on Bohol island but I'm torn between Anda beach and Alona beach.
I know Alona is closer to the ferry terminal and a little more upbeat, happening, bars, etc. Anda is smaller, more relaxing.
I'm curious about the diving and beaches though. Has anybody been to both and have an opinion on which is better? Also wondering about accomodations for Anda. I've done some research on Flower Beach resort and Dapdap. Any thoughts? |

At Anda the beaches are much smaller (with rock bluffs in between). The diving is comparable and most of the time you end up at the same dive spots anyway (boats travel between them all).
Anda IS a LONG way from the airport/ferry (if you are coming from cebu or flying in). It will take an hour or 2 from the ferry to Anda. It is also very laid back and a bit isolated. Outside of the resorts there will be few (if any) locals who speak English. It is the "poor" side of the island.
If you have google earth you can see Anda on the tip that sticks out of the east south-east part of the island. Alona/Panglao is on the extreme south west.
There are lots of smallish beach resorts along Anda (but they are spread out from Guindulman to Anda town) and with the exception of a couple of German owned ones they mostly cater to Pinoy customers.
On the plus side, you can catch a boat from Guindulman to Camiguin if you want to check out the old volcano, buried town and do some diving on the sunken graveyard.
