|
last night my wife and I went to lotte cinema and watched Kickass.
it was amazing and very funny and a little creepy.
after doing a lot of laughing we left the theater and I felt a little sorry for the girl's loss of innocence to be in that movie.
what did you think? |

| From the preview, one can assume it is about a bunch of teenage dorks who realize their dreams of becoming super heroes through the help of a scientist whom provides the high tech gadgets to carry out their masquerade. |

| I don't know why everyone is making such a big deal about Hit-Girl (an 11 year old) dropping C and F bombs, being a fan of the comics, it would be wrong without it |

| It's meant to be pretty violent too. Blood + children = blergh.. Haven't seen it yet myself, will probably go some time this week. |

While I agree with you that it really isn't a big deal anymore, cursing has more or less become a part of everyday culture in music, movies, and even regular speech for a lot of people, but at the same time it's sad that society has regressed to a state where an 11 year old girl can use that kind of language and nobody bats an eye.
And I guess I should prepare myself for more cursing from my students, since I'm sure most of them will watch this movie, and then listen to my co-teachers make the excuse, "Oh they don't really understand what they're saying so you shouldn't get angry with them." |

| It's a very fun movie - even my wife liked it and she usually hates standard hollywood-comic-fare. I thought it was decent - well done, definately worth a cinema trip ^^* but, OP that was not really a review. |

| I watched the trailer and I want to know how a movie like this could possibly be good. |

I think what got us howling through the movie was the absurdity and insanity of the story;
an 11 year old girl going on a mass killing spree with knives and guns while wearing a costume; a huge man needing a bazooka to kill her; a teenage boy with no skills or abilities thinking he could be a superhero etc.
the story itself was hilarious but I would have preferred it to be an animation so I wouldn't feel sad for the girl |

I saw it. It was pretty good.
The way the director shot the violence was cool and disturbing at the same time. Something about 1st person POV of shooting bullets directly into people's faces and skulls is kind of unsettling. Its one thing to see it on a 22" computer monitor with CG. Its another thing to see it in a huge Movie Screen with real life actors.
Watching the show reminded me of Anime like Gunslinger Girls and Noir. Both animes show young girls just wasting people with their gun skills.
The movie was definitely not what I expected. It was a pleasant surprise.
PS. I wanted to shout "McLovin!" in the theater. |

| I really enjoyed this movie, and that little girl's acting job was probably one of the best acting jobs I've seen in years. The range that little kid could play was great. |

| Judging from the trailer, it looks like the sort of adolescent fantasy wank that Quentin Tarantino would direct. |
