A colleague of mine told me that he was granted the option of extending his E2 visa and ARC for 30 days by the end of the original period. Is this true? Because an immigration counsellor on line 1345 told me that I couldn't extend mine and that I have to leave the country by the end of the original period upon completion of the contract.  |

1345 is is essentially correct BUT:
IF you want to extend your visa beyond the end of your ARC for the purposes of TOURISM (or to simply wrap up your affairs) you can get a 30 day extension to your stay.
You need to make the application to immigration BEFORE your ARC expires and you need to show: Passport, ARC, EXIT TICKET. Your extension will be until the date of your ticket and a maximum of 30 days from the end of your ARC.

Thanks for your reply and the links. Unfortunately, I can't find a new employer and transfer my E2 visa during the extension period. I will have to apply for a new visa again.  |
