My wife and I are thinking about getting certified with a TEFL, CELTA etc...
I was reading a bit here: http://www.bridgetefl.com/bridge-idelt-bl.php
Anyone know anything about this? Is is good? Better than other certs?
Or does anyone have any experience with BridgeTEFL? Or who would you suggest?
We might just do a cheap online TEFL so my wife can get the pay raise.
Thanks. |

I wouldn't recommend that course. Mainly because of the 70 hour online portion. The cost of $1500 is high when you consider some schools in some countries may not accept the certificate because half of it was online. To compare, I'm taking a CELTA this fall. The course fee is about $1100, plus about $500 for housing, but I won't have to worry about whether or not the CELTA would be accepted. |

Also, I just noticed the IDELT only includes about 3 hours of teaching practice. The standard is generally 6 hours. That may hurt your chances for some jobs that require a certificate with 6 hours of teaching practice.
For a pay raise in Korea, a $200 to $300 online course that is over 100 hours will be enough. However, I know that SMOE will not accept an online course that won't give an original certificate. I don't know about the other programs.
If you want to teach outside of Korea, for the cost of that IDELT I would do a 4 week onsite course. In many countries it would cost about the same or less. |
