this might sound like a weird question, but in korea i tend to get dark circles under my eyes, even when i get enough sleep. at home, i only have cirlces when i'm really tired. why is this? so i've tried a couple things, but nothing so far has made a noticeable difference. anyone have any product recommendations or remedies?

It might be a liver thing.

If you drink regularly (booze) and don't eat right it might be the cause of those circles.

Thats my doctor had told me concerning the same thing when I was back home...

Try resituating your mirror. Circles come & go depending on the lighting direction. Probably, youre more aware of them than others are.

Sometimes. I'd like to recommend drinking huge quantities of carrot juice. Drinking the fresh juice of living vegetables is a big boost of energy, and staves off the ghoulish black circles of overexertion. It feeds your body for excessive energy output. There's a nice juicer machine at HomePlus designed by Russel Hobbs (titanium coated blade, big motor with sealed bearings, pulp ejection into a bin) for 95,000 won.

I think it's lack of sleep too. Also, fluorescent lights lights...they reveal everything, wrinkles, white hairs, dark circles. That's why soap operas are always filmed with soft lights. I hate walking into the hagwon sometimes...especially if hungover.

i have 5 or 6 massive multi vitamins everyday.. i practically drink a bottle of vodka everyday and i eat shit... when i get the black circles... it is only from not enough sleep..

i can do all those fun things, get enough sleep and the black disappears..

agreeing with shawner and schwa.. light does have a big effect on exactly what you can see...

i spose it could be a combination of things.. but for me... it is just sleep

Someone above suggested huge quantities of carrot juice, not a good plan as its quite easy to OD on vitamin A. Too much carotene & your skin can actually take on an orange cast.

In most cases the condition is a result of aging or inheritance, and does not indicate illness or toxicity in the body. It is made worse by lack of sleep, however caused by other problems such as ageing.

As you tack on the years, the skin covering your eyelids thins out, which may cause the blood vessels to become more apparent, giving your lower eyelids a darker appearance. It's also possible that thin eyelids can be inherited. Dark eyelids can also be caused from swelling in your lower eyelids. When you're lying down, gravity causes fluid to collect in your lower eyelids, which may create shadows below your eyes.

Here are two "simple?" Ayurvedic remedies that can help eliminate the hollow look. (only simple if you have the ingredients)

(1) Gently massage saffron or almond oil on the dark area before going to bed.

(2) Dip cotton pads in fig juice, rosewater, or cold milk. Lie down with your feet raised higher than your head, then place the wet pads on your closed eyes. Stay that way for 10 minutes.

Whether you've inherited the dark circles under your eyes or are just suffering from fatigue, there are ways to conceal the problem. (makeup).

Also you could try gently running a finger around your eye in the morning in a circular motion....for say 5 mins. It increases the circulation and not only helps with tires looking eyes but gets rid of wrinkles too.

Yes, I am rather wise on this one and I'm a bloke. I owe it all to daytime TV.

As you were.
