I'm looking for a massage place in Bundang or maybe Seoul, ideally somewhere that does Thai massage. But all the ones I've noticed have barber poles outside, which is not what I'm looking for. Anyone know of a real massage place? Thanks!

Just look for a place that says 전통 태국 안마, or something like that. You could also do a search with this term on Naver.

Try the foot shop at Seohyeon stn. it's in the same building as KFC/BK, 2nd floor I think. It's not Thai massage, but it's 100% clean.

Sigh.

Barber poles don't mean anything. That's an urban legend. All that stuff you were told at Wolfhound about "Two poles means this" and "Three poles mean that" and "If there are three and the middle one spins anticlockwise" well, that guy was yanking your chain.

I agree. There is a place in this village with a barber pole, and disappointingly it really is a barber shop.

Not so sure about ye olde double polls. I can think of at least two that aren't barber shops.

Before I knew better, I accidentally wandered wandered into a double pole shop hoping to get a haircut. What greeted me was a wall of pornography and a studio shop divided only by curtains where I could clearly see a dude getting a BJ. Even if it is mostly a myth, myths come from somewhere. At least a few are full release and it's better to be sure before you go in.

At Ori Station there's a 24-hour Thai Massage place. It's right on top of the station. I've never been there, but they're constantly putting flyer magnets on my door.
The specials on the flyer are 1hr30min 70k/90k won to 2hrs 90k/120kwon.
number is 010-3663-2828

The red, white and blue poles generally indicate prostitution. The gray poles or the ones that are red, green, yellow, white with scissors and stuff on the poles are actual legit barbershops. It's not hard to tell the difference.

What about when it's a barber shop with all black windows? Or a coffee shop with all black windows?

I think the prostitution has more to do with love motels often in alleys where you see all these pictures of women on business cards in elevators, walk ways, and on parked cars.

What about when the faeries from Glenallen come to bring you meade and rose petals?

The question was not about black windows, it was about barber poles. Please, try to keep up.

I'm sure you are right as I've certainly seen those cards all over the many love motels that surround my apartment building, but that doesn't mean that the parlors are not there for lunch breaks and a quick place to pop off (no pun intended) before going back to the wife and kids. I don't know why folks are trying to deny the existence of this, it's a simple fact of the culture, poles present or not. If it makes you feel better, a lot of these places are starting to get shut down. I've seen a few go under and get replaced with typical paejeon places and such in Dongnae.
