I'm interested but your gonna have to come down off the price.
630,000 is about $560. I could get it new when from amazon when I go home in a few months for $519. |

Don't do it Kimchi Joe! My biggest pet peeve is the "it costs this much in the US" bargainers. The only answer right answer to that bargaining chip is "buy it in the US, then." |

Agreed. KJ, what you're charging is the proper price for this lens second-hand in Korea. I've had the pleasure of borrowing my buddy's 70-300IS for a few days and I was quite impressed with the results. I would recommend this lens to anyone. |

How much is it new in Korea?
How long have you had it?
I'm the and only person inquired on this thread.
Give the original price and when you bought it and I might consider paying 630,000.
If you don't wanna sell it that's fine with me. It's not like I'm low ballin'. |

Hi Kimchi Joe,
Can you tell us how much you ended up selling the 28-105mm for? I bought an EOS 7D with the kit lens (same lens, I think) and I am thinking of selling the lens to make the kit a little bit cheaper. Thanks!
edit: It turns out the kit comes with the 28-135mm lens. I have both the "Canon EF 28-135MM F/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens" and the "Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens" and I will consider selling one or both of them if I receive a good enough offer. I bought them from the US, and they are currently in the US but I am going to bring them back with me in June or July when I go home for a visit. They haven't been used, and haven't even been taken out of their boxes yet. However, I am going to take them out and put them in a camera bag when I fly to Korea so that customs doesn't charge me for them. |

Maybe I'm crazy here but wouldn't it still be cheaper to buy it in the US and have it shipped instead of paying 850-900,000 new? It seems as though I can get it new and shipped cheaper than 630,000. I must be looking the wrong lens or something. |

It's a $650 lens in the US, but it does go on sale. Right now you can buy it for $550. Shipping to Korea will probably cost somewhere around $50-100. When it arrives, you will need to pay a 10%-20% customs duty on it. The current exchange rate is 1,100 won/dollar. So, assuming you buy it for $550, shipping is $50, and you pay a 10% customs duty, your total will be 726,000 won. In order to check the cost of shipping, I tried to add this lens to my cart (at amazon.com) and selected my Korean address as my shipping address. I got the message that "Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens for Canon EOS SLR Cameras cannot be shipped to the selected address." So, you'll have to ship the lens to a relative, then have your relative ship it to you. In that case, the lens can be marked as used, and you may or may not have to pay customs. So, I guess it comes down to the worth of your time and the time of the people who are helping you with shipping.
It may very well be worth it to you, to buy from the US. However, that doesn't make it worth it to the seller to sell for a lower price. Do you understand the difference? I think maybe that is what so many buyers don't understand. Just because YOU can get it for cheaper from the US (although maybe it won't be cheaper at all, and it will take longer to receive) the selling price here isn't necessarily too high.
Another thing is that lens don't just "go bad." A properly cared for used lens is just as good as a brand new lens. Furthermore, new lens' sometimes have QC issues, so buying a used lens from a reputable individual may yield you a better lens than buying a new one from a retailer. |

If I may chirp in here again, another factor you need to consider is that if you buy a lens in the States, you're a long way away from getting your lens serviced if something goes wrong. American warrantys aren't valid in Korea. Furthermore, I also don't trust the postal service enough to safely ship something so fragile so far. When I've bought my lenses, I've never thought that buying from the States and getting them shipped here was worth the risk/hassle for what ends up being negligable savings. |

I understand what everyone is saying. I'm a shopper. I compare prices.
Yes OP you are free to sell whatever you want at what price you choose. I was simply inquirying and telling where I stand. I won't pay 630,000 but might consider something lower.
I've got the money and if I didn't have it I wouldn't ask.
Good luck. |
