so, my buddy doesn't have an account on Dave's yet, but he needs some advice on his visa. here's his situation:
Here's what I wrote to the American Embassy in Seoul:
My wife is an English teacher in Korea, and I live here with her (but I'm not a teacher). Before we left the country, we both received our visas, and in multiple phone conversations with the Korean consulate in Houston, I explained that I needed a spousal/dependent visa. I was never told that this wasn't possible, or that I needed to do anything special, so when we picked up our visas and looked over them, they seemed fine. I just realized, however, that my visa was only a 90-day tourist (C-3) visa, and it just expired. We called the consulate in Houston and they finally explained to us that they are not authorized to process F-3 dependent visas, and that our only option is to go to the Korean Ministry of Justice and have the visa extended every 90 days. We then called the San Francisco Korean consulate to get a second opinion on our options and were told that my wife, now that she's in the country, can apply for an F-3 dependent visa for me.
Does anyone have experience with this, or suggestions for the best course of action? |

Hi There,
Two links might come in handy. One is for the immigration office.
http://www.hikorea.go.kr
You can check on various visas here.
Another is for AFEK. www.afek.info
These people might have the best information about F series.
I have heard it is easy...anyone else? |
