thanks.

There are others in addition to Skype, as well. The problem is that you really need to speak/read Korean well in order to find this sort of thing on the Internet. I see my Korean coworkers using online texting every day at work.

You can send online text through NateOn as long as the recipient has their cellphone number tied tot their NAteOn screen name.

Did you even bother to look? A quick search turned up tons of sites for online texting.

http://www.munjanara.co.kr/

http://smszone.hanafos.com/

http://www.smsgo.co.kr/

http://www.sms79.com/

http://front.mobile.daum.net/message/Sms#

http://www.mymunja.co.kr/

http://www.nicesms.co.kr/

http://sms.nate.com/web2009/html/sms.jsp

A few things to mention... all sites require registration due to Korea's anti-anonymity internet laws. None of the sites are totally free, some of them will give you a small number of free messages per day and charge you for any additional messages sent. However it's usually still cheaper than sending from a phone.

Google voice (voice.google.com) can send texts for free to cell phones in Korea. I'm not sure if it can receive them from Korea or not, though it definitely can from America (it would be an international text, and I don't know what the charges would be, and I don't want to try).

It's still closed beta, but you can request an account at voice.google.com I believe.
