Hello,

I am currently teaching ESOL in a public school in Florida and would like to find a summer camp in Korea. I am 41 and black, and I worry that this may limit some of my chances, as I've heard that many camps have preferences. I do have tons of experience though, I imagine that will help me.

Anyway, I taught in China for awhile and I've visited Korea (on vacation) so there wouldn't be any culture shock in going to Asia. I am keen to find a decent place to work... if anyone has any experiences or tips to share, I'd love to hear them.

Cheers,

J

I don't think that they care much about your age. They just care that you have energy to play with the kids. If you currently do work with kids, then it shouldn't be a problem. I've known teachers in their 30s get jobs at summer camps. I would guess that 41 isn't too old. Anyway, try. If they say 'no', then you have your answer.

You shouldn't have a problem getting a job for the summer. The first summer camp I ever did a certified teacher from the States came over and she wasn't "white" but Latino. Just apply and you should get something. There are like a gazillion camps each summer that need teachers.
