I've seen contracts specify furniture and appliances in the provided apartment. But what about air conditioning in the hot summer?

I'm wondering if anyone ever got stuck in an apartment without air conditioning.

And what about the schools themselves. Do people teach in sweltering heat, dripping with sweat? Or are the schools air conditioned? I'm sure it varies from place to place.

Would like to hear about people's experience with this in the summer heat.

I'm living in a city (Ulsan). I and everyone I know has air conditioning in their apartments. I'm fortunate enough to be in a school that's new and allows each classroom to control it's own heat and air. So in the summer I keep my room nice and cool (especially for the soccer-playing students who come in dripping in sweat). Other teachers are not so fortunate and have the air conditioning regulated by the main office (which means it's hotter in there than they'd like).

I'm at a private high school so the admin are not anal about AC or heat. My classroom is smaller than the others so in the summer my room gets nice and frosty.

I'm in a public school, and my classroom and office have in room control AC, however, last year the principal didnt allow the AC to cut costs (except for the principal and vice principal offices)......but my co-teacher asked for special permission because our classroom was the only one without fans...

My officetel has a built in AC...but it's too small for the shoebox room and isn't all that effective in getting it below 25 degrees (77 F).

Allow nothing, I'll turn my air on anytime in my PS classroom I want and in the summer I won't teach without it. I walk around alot in class and my kids stink. My hagwon tried that last year, and me and the other teacher complained everyday and every hour for a week and they broke down and turned it on for the whole summer

Two of my classrooms don't have working ac units and we're on the 7th floor.....so these classrooms are going to get ridiculous.

I live in Daegu and it was in my contract to get an air conditioner in my apartment. It get hotter here than anywhere else in Korea. My office and classroom fortunately have air conditioning that I can control, but I'm very lucky to have that.
