Hello all,

I am going to go home in August for a month and I have bought an IPhone in Korea. Now I can use the WiFi connection in Korea and it is free, but if I go to England and use the WiFi there will it cost me. I ask this question because WiFi is considered free but using normal GS connection will charge me (unless it is within the contractual agreement of 500 MB). Also, dos anyone know about this deal with Skype of using a connection abroad.

Thanks in advance

Dave

Think about it like that.

Just found this on a website though:

How can I change the settings to use another Wi-Fi provider while abroad?
On the iPhone tap Settings > General > Network > Wi-Fi. The iPhone will scan for available networks. When the network you want to connect to appears in the list just select it and then choose Join.

If a password is required you will be prompted for it at this point.

Remember you wont be able to benefit from your unlimited WiFi allowance outside the UK. If you connect to a Wi Fi provider while abroad you will be charged according to the fee stipulated by the Wi-Fi network you are connecting to.

You may be able to access a Wi-Fi network free of charge as some hotels, cafs etc provide this service.

Actually, WIFI is free free free!!! The only thing you would need to worry about is if you connected to a 3G spot. But just turn 3G off in settings and you'll be fine.

WIFI just connects to someone's wireless router, you will never have to pay unless you sign up for some service. For example, at some airports they provide wifi for $5 a day or something like that.

So basically, if you can connect and use WIFI, you are not paying, if you can connect but not use the WIFI you are not paying.

You bought your iPhone in Korea? They have plans now? I brought my iPhone here almost a year ago and have not seen any place I could set up a phone plan. Where do you live and what kind of plan do you have? What kind of rates do you have and does that include Internet or do you just use the wifi?

Wifi is and always will be free. Just turn off data roaming settings>general>network>dataroaming when you go home so that you won't get charged roaming charges..

If you're really worried about roaming charges, pop out the sim card. Then, use free wifi. Smile
